If a steering wheel lock or similar device was bought at least thirty days prior to the Software Upgrade being made available for the Class Vehicle, Class Members who bought or leased these vehicles may also be eligible for payment of up to $50 per vehicle.

What are the eligible vehicles that will not receive a software upgrade?
Class Members may receive reimbursement of up to $300 per class vehicle for the purchase and/or installation of an anti-theft device such as a steering wheel lock, glass breakage alarm, or comparable device, or for any other aftermarket modification intended to discourage or prevent theft, provided they bought or leased a class vehicle that is not eligible for the software upgrade.
Class Members who already have a steering wheel lock from Kia are eligible for compensation up to $250 per Class Vehicle. This benefit is available to all Class Vehicles that are situated in Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Guam, as they are not qualified for the Software Upgrade. The following are the eligible vehicles that will not receive any software upgrade.

How much do you get from the Kia Hyundai Vehicle Theft Settlement?
The various forms of reimbursement that are available under the kia theft settlement are broken down as follows:
Payment for Loss or Theft Attempt:
- You will be refunded up to 60% of the car’s Black Book value if it is totally stolen.
- For every instance of theft or attempted theft, up to a maximum of $3,375 or 33% of the costs associated with the damages.
Installation of Anti-Theft:
- Devices reimbursement for the cost of installing glass break alarms, steering wheel locks, or other comparable anti-theft devices. Reimbursement amounts for individuals who purchased such vehicles prior to the software upgrade becoming available can reach up to $300 per class vehicle. In the event that Kia supplied a steering wheel lock, further reimbursements for additional devices are limited to $250.
Compensation for Extra Expenses:
- Insurance deductibles paid as a consequence of theft or attempted theft are reimbursed up to $375.
- Transportation costs, towing fees, and fines related to the theft or attempted theft may total up to $250.
- For the time spent dealing with the fallout from the theft or getting the software update, up to $250 may be claimed overall for lost wages and daycare costs.
