What’s the Walmart-weighted groceries settlement about?

Walmart faced a lawsuit against them alleging they had charged the customers more when the customers brought the weighted goods or bagged citrus products from the Walmart stores. The plaintiffs filed a lawsuit against Walmart in 2022 for deceptive practices.

The plaintiffs alleged that the defendant falsely hiked the weighted goods prices, and mislabeled the bagged citrus products, which led to customers paying more than they actually should have. The plaintiff explains that the price on the shelf was advertised lower and when they moved to the checkout section, they paid more based on the price labelled on the product.

The plaintiff also alleges the products with a yellow sticker with a lower price are the products that were about to expire where they also paid higher than the advertised price. The defendant denied the allegations and proposed to settle the lawsuit with a $45 million settlement fund.
