Customers are paid a $4.76 million Group 1001 settlement covering claims the company failed to secure against a 2023 data breach. Your claim form must be turned in online by Thursday, October 10, 2024.

The compensation will benefit Group 1001 customers, employees, dependents, payees, and anybody whose personal information could have been stolen during the 2023 data hack. Per the settlement, the Defendants must disburse a non-reversionary settlement amount of $4,759,470. 

Group 1001 did not adequately represent the plaintiffs in the class action complaint over a data breach resulting from a computer intrusion in February 2023 that compromised sensitive information. The exclusion and protest deadline was Sept. 10, 2024. The final scheduled approval session for the settlement is due on October 3, 2024 Class members wishing Group 1001 settlement benefits must submit a current claim by October 10, 2024.

Group 1001 Data Breach Settlement Amount

The settlement calls for Defendants to pay $4,759,470 into a non-reversionary Settlement Fund. The remaining monies will be utilized to cover legitimate claims after the distribution of the Attorneys’ Fees Amount; Class Counsel’s litigation costs, Costs of Summary and Administration, and Service Awards to the Class Representatives. 

Class Members qualified to make a legitimate claim are entitled under the Agreement:

  • For Out-of-pocket Losses resulting from the Data Incident, all Class Members are qualified to receive compensation for up to $5,000 per person including but not limited to:
  • Bank fees, long-distance phone costs, mobile phone charges (only if paid depending on the quantity of data used); data charges; miscellaneous qualifying expenditures subject to explanation; postage, notary, fax, copying, mileage, and/or fuel for local travel;
  • Fees for credit reports, credit monitoring, and/or other identity theft insurance bought between the date of the Data Incident and The Deadline to Submit Claims; Part of this Claim Form, Class Members claiming Out-of-Pocket Losses must provide documents attesting to their claims.
  • Class Members may file a claim for self-certified time spent about the possible consequences of the Data Incident. Simply attesting to the fact they spent much time and outlining how the time was used, each Class Member may claim up to $80 of lost time (calculated at $20/hour, up to 4 hours).
  • In the alternative of reimbursements, each Class Member may file a claim for a Cash Payment for no less than $5 (subject to rise depending on the total Net Settlement Fund left after payment of all other claim types).
  • Apart from the advantages mentioned above, Class Members may get free 3 years of credit monitoring and identity theft protection services (with $1,000,000 in identity theft insurance).

Group 1001 Data Breach Settlement Eligibility
