What can delay your Washington Family Tax Credit 2026?

The Washington Department of Revenue processed the Washington Family Tax Credit in 90 days from filing; it can get delayed due to the following reasons:

  • When your WFTC application has some missing or incomplete information, and the department has asked the applicant about the information. Hence, you must review the application before submitting it to avoid such issues.
  • If you mail the application to the Department of Revenue, it may take time to reach them, and ultimately delay the whole process, so remember to apply online.
  • If you filed multiple applications for WFTC for the same year, it may confuse the system and cause a delay in the refund process.
  • The payment mode can also further delay your refund process, especially if you have chosen a paper check, which will take more than a week longer than the direct deposit. Hence, for a faster refund process, remember to go for direct deposit in your WFTC application.
  • If the supporting documents are in another language, the department will need to translate the material to review it, which will add more time to the refund processing and delay your refund.

Washington State will soon open the application window for the Worker’s Family Tax Credit on 01 February 2026. Be prepared and submit your application on time to receive the refund in 3 months from the Department of Revenue, and have the needed support to fight the increasing cost of living.
