The T-Mobile settlement of $350 million was filed due to the 2021 data breach and the leaked personal information of the customers due to the data breach. The final proceedings in the court are finally complete, including the appeal.

T-Mobile Settlement Payout Date
The class action lawsuit against T-Mobile US, Inc. and T-Mobile USA was filed by the customers whose personal information was leaked in the T-Mobile 2021 data breach. On 16 August 2021, the company announced the cyber attack compromising the personal information of around 76 million US customers.
The court has favored plaintiffs or defendants, instead both sides agreed to the settlement. The court granted the preliminary approval for the settlement of $350 million on 26 July 2022 and the final approval was granted on 29 June 2023. The class members who have filed the claim form by 23 January 2023 and are waiting for the payment as the approval was appealed.
The appeal is resolved in the Class counsel’s revised motion on 10 September 2024, and now the claimants are waiting for the compensation for their personal identity theft or fraud that happened due to the T-Mobile data breach, and can expect the payment in April 2025 as per the latest update.
Who can receive the T-Mobile settlement payout?
According to the T-Mobile settlement guidelines, the class members who meet the following eligibility conditions will receive the settlement payout:
- If you are among the 76 million US customers who were identified by the T-Mobile company and affected due to the 2021 data breach and had their personal information leaked, you would be eligible for the payout.
- The class members who have filed the claim form before the deadline and not objected to the settlement will receive the settlement.
Exclusion:
- The employees, directors, and officers of T-Mobile will be excluded from the settlement.
- The judicial staff or the judge involved in the case will be excluded from the class action settlement.
- Any individuals who were on or before 26 July 2022, or served a written arbitration demand, or petition against T-Mobile regarding the data breach, or provided written notice of the data breach with claims would be excluded from the settlement.
- Any class member of T-Mobile who has excluded or opted out from the settlement.
T-Mobile Settlement Payout Amount
The class members will receive the compensation from the T-Mobile settlement of $350 million. As per the settlement guidelines, the settlement administrator would first use the fund to cover the settlement administrative cost, attorney fees or cost, and other settlement expenses.
The class members who filed a valid claim for the T-Mobile settlement would receive the following benefit under the settlement:
- Cash benefit: The claimants would receive the cash benefit for unreimbursed out-of-pocket losses that they spent on or after 01 August 2021 to deal with the T-Mobile 2021 data breach. According to the settlement guidelines, the claimants can receive their out-of-pocket losses up to $25,000.
- Cash benefit for lost time: The class members of the T-Mobile who have spent time on dealing with the T-Mobile breach or taking preventive measures can expect a payment up to $25 for each hour. You can receive the reimbursement for up to 15 hours for lost time and up to 5 hours for reimbursement rate.
- OR the class members can also receive the alternative cash benefit, where the California resident will receive payout up to $25 or $100 for the out-of-pocket losses or lost time on 01 August 2021.

The class members who have claimed these services in the claim form would be enrolled in the Identity Theft Defense Services. The claimants will receive the email with the enrollment instructions as the settlement is finalized and approved.
With the defense services, the claimants can also access the restoration services that will allow them to restore their services for a period of 2 years once the settlement is final.
How will you receive the T-Mobile Settlement payout?
According to the T-Mobile settlement guidelines, the eligible claimants will receive the cash benefit electronically, via PayPal, Venmo, ACH, or Zelle as per their preference selected in the claim form. The class members should understand the T-Mobile payout can be adjusted or reduced based on the amount and number of claims filed.
The class members who have not claimed the electronic payment methods in the claim form would receive the payment through a physical check. The class members who have changed their mailing address in these years should inform the settlement administrator to receive the payment on time.
