Norton Healthcare is a US-based health care system that operates multiple hospitals, outpatient centers, and physician practices. Its 2023 ransomware data breach compromised the protected health information of 2.5 million people, leading to a class action suit being filed against it. To resolve this, it agreed to an $11 million settlement.
Out of the $11 million, approximately 33% of the fund will be deducted for attorney fees and administration, and the remaining amount will be distributed among the class members of the class settlement, i.e., $7.37 million will be distributed among those people whose personal information was compromised due to this cybersecurity incident.
