  • The flooding has to be a direct cause of your financial distress. This hardship can take various forms, including:
    • Severely damaged or destroyed home: The floods must have caused significant damage or complete destruction to your primary residence.
    • Serious injuries: You or an immediate family member must have sustained serious injuries as a direct consequence of the floods.

Applying for the Centrelink $1,000 Disaster Recovery Payment 

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for this payment online through your Centrelink account. To apply, follow the below mentioned  online application process: 

  • Go to https://my.gov.au/ and sign in using your myGov credentials.
  • Once logged in, select “Centrelink” from the list of services.

  • Locate and choose the “Help in an emergency” option.
