The SSA processes the monthly SSI payment on the first day of the month, and if the payment day falls on a weekend or a public holiday, the administration will move the payment day earlier to the nearest business day. Social Security SSI Payment Amount for April 2025
The SSA has increased the Social Security payout in January 2025 based on the 2025 COLA adjustments they announced in October 2024. The administration adjusts the Social Security payments every year to ensure the payment matches the inflation and people have enough payment to cover their expenses.
With 2025 COLA adjustment, the SSI recipients can receive the maximum payment of $967 (for individuals) and $1450 (for couples). The recipients should know that the monthly payment depends on your income, family members’ income, and other factors.
The SSI payment can be reduced based on your income and other factors, hence, the recipients should know the effect of each factor to see how much SSI monthly payout they will receive.
What factors can affect your SSI payments?
As we mentioned earlier, the SSI payments can be affected due to some factors that can reduce their payment. The SSI recipients should understand the following factor to know the effect of it on their monthly payout:
- Income: The SSI payment is for people who don’t earn more than $2019 in a month, hence if the recipient earns above the income limit, their payment will be decreased. For every $2 you earn from work, it will reduce your SSI payout by $1, and for $1 earned from non-work resources, you would lose $1 from your SSI payment. The income of a family member will also affect your SSI payment.
- Living Situation: The SSI recipient is living with someone and their home, and does not pay any accommodation charges or their fair share of food, their SSI payment will be lowered up to $342.33.
Many people think that if they got support from their state, such as a state supplement to support them for food and other costs, it would affect their SSI, however, they should know that the state support will not affect the federal support.
Who will receive the Social Security SSI Payments?
The US citizens who meet the following eligibility conditions would receive the SSI payment from the Social Security Administration:
- You have little or no income and resources, or have a disability or blindness, or are aged 65 or older.
- Your income from a work source in a month should not exceed $2019 for individuals, whereas for couples or parents who have applied for SSI payments for their children, the income limit will be higher. The income of the month will include income from work and the authority also involves other payments, such as pensions, disability benefits, and unemployment.
- If you have other resources (things you own), such as vehicles, money in bank accounts, and others. The resource limit for the SSI recipients is $2000 (for individuals) and $3000 (for couples). If you are a parent and applied for a child, the resource limit is $2000.
- If you are younger or age 64, you must have a disability to receive the payout, like your disability affects your work for a year or more, or have a disability that will result in death, and the disability limits your daily activity. If the applicant has a disability, they should earn less than $1,550 from work.
- If you are age 65 or older, you will be eligible for the SSI even if you don’t have any disability.
- The non-citizens living in the US can also receive the SSI payout, if they meet the qualifications of income or resources, age or disability, and meet the non-citizen eligibility.
What to do if you do not receive the SSI payment on time?
The SSI recipients will receive their April 2025 payment on 01 April 2025, however, if by any chance you missed your SSI payments, you should wait for five business days before contacting the SSA regarding the missing payment.
