First Semester:

  • January 31st, 2024: NSFAS released R4.2 billion to universities and TVET colleges to cover initial payments and registration fees.

Regular Payments:

  • February and March: The payment schedule shifted from monthly to bi-weekly during these months. Students received payments every two weeks.
  • April onwards: Monthly payments resumed, typically arriving in the first week of each month.

Create a MyNSFAS Account:

  • Visit the NSFAS website (https://www.nsfas.org.za/) and click on “myNSFAS.”
  • Register using your ID number and email address.
  • Activate your account by verifying your email and phone number.

Submit Your Application:

  • During the open application period, log in to your MyNSFAS account.
  • Click on “Apply” and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Accurately complete all sections and upload the required supporting documents.

Accommodation Allowance:

    • R50,000 per year in metro areas.
    • R41,000 per year in non-metro areas.
    • R66,500 per year in catered institutions in metro areas.

TVET College Students:

Living Allowance:

  • Increased from R6,000 to R10,000 per year.

Learning Material Allowance:
