  • The home wiring upgrades and charging station purchases done after 30 December 2022 are entitled to the rebates.
  • The program allows the 240-volt home wiring upgrade and for the charging station purchase. 
  • The EV customers must have purchased or leased a plug-in electric vehicle, battery EV, or plug-in hybrid EV to receive the rebates.
  • The individuals living in s single-family homes must enroll in the Off-Peak Charging Program and the tenants and landlords who don’t lease or own the EV or the parking space do not need to enroll for the Off-Peak Charging program of the National Grid.

Eligibility for the people living in the Environmental Justice Communities & R-2 customers:

  • The purchase price of EVs should be $55,000 or less for enhanced wiring upgrades.
  • The new EV customers should present the sale agreement and vehicle purchase documents, whereas the EV customers who bought used EVs should present the Motor Vehicles registration Registry and Title Application, otherwise, the rebate will be up to $700 or the actual project cost whichever comes less.  

National Grid EV Charger Rebate Amount 

The EV customers will receive the National Grid EV charger rebates and incentives based on their residence, the single-family individuals receive the different rebate amounts from people living in 2-4 unit buildings. 

The national grid offers various rebates, so the final amount paid to the EV customers will be the actual project or rebate amount, whichever is less. 

People enrolled in the low-income discount rates (R-2 customers) and living in the Environmental Justice neighborhood will receive additional rebates for the installation and purchase of smart & qualified EV charging stations. 

Here’s the distribution of the rebates you will receive via the National Grid EV charger rebate program:

  • On the installation of a 240-volt home wiring outlet in the parking space/garage, Massachusetts living in a single-family home will receive a rebate of up to $700 and people living in 2-4 unit buildings will receive $14,00.
  • For Environmental Justice communities, the single-family home residence will receive additional rebates of up to $1000 and $2000 for 2-4 unit building residences. 
  • The R-2 customer living in a single-family home will receive a rebate of up to $1000 and $2000 for people living in a 2-4-unit building on the installation of a 240-volt outlet. The customer who purchases a smart charger will receive $700 either living in a single-family home or building.

The EV customers who wish to receive the National Grid EV charging rebate can apply for the rebates online and must follow the below steps:

 

  • First, you should ensure your eligibility and enroll in the Off-Peak Charging Program to apply for the charging rebate. 
  • You must check the complete compatible model list and purchase & install the Level 2 EV charging stations as per the requirements before moving online to apply for the rebate. 
  • Complete the online application on the official website https://frontdoor.portal.poweredbyefi.org/initiative/ngridma/program/ngridmaev with valid information and documents. 
  • The inspection officers may come to review the installation work and access the charging station or wiring infrastructure to ensure everything is under the guidelines. 
  • Next, on a valid application, you may expect the rebate check for the EV charging within six to eight weeks of your application.
