Manitoba Security Rebate – Eligibility to get reimbursement of $300!

Manitoba has introduced a new program that offers a $300 reimbursement for security equipment purchases made by households and businesses. Purchases completed after September 1, 2023, are qualified for the rebate. Those who qualify for the reimbursement can apply for the refund now.

Manitoba Security Rebate

The program offers qualifying homeowners, tenants, and small companies a reimbursement of up to $300 to offset the cost of buying security technology that increases the physical protection of their properties.

A total of $500,000 has been set aside by the province for the program, and applications will be considered first come, first served. However, residents may only apply once for a single property if they have several residences or places of business.

  • Eligible Security Equipment: The security equipment you purchase and install must be eligible under the program guidelines. This includes items like security cameras, alarm systems, reinforced doors, and windows.

The requirements and needs of security equipment are listed below.

  • Security equipment cannot be purchased secondhand or for resale; it must be purchased brand new.
  • Security equipment must be proactive and increase the physical security of a home or small business’s property.
  • Taxes and expenses (such as GST and PST) related to the purchase of the security equipment will not be refunded.
  • After September 1, 2023, security equipment purchases and installations are required.
  • Security cameras (including doorbell cameras), alarm systems, motion detectors, reinforced doors and windows, anti-graffiti film, paints, security gates, pull-down protection shutters, and permanently installed fencing for security purposes are just a few examples of the types of equipment that qualify as security equipment.
  • Monthly or recurring membership fees, software updates, and installation charges for security systems are not covered. Purchases of hardware alone qualify.
