Recently, the Department of Transitional Assistance has announced the clothing allowance for eligible citizens, which occurs only in September.

The government provides clothing allowance to families to support them with the financial stress they face while buying clothing for children. The allowance ensures that every eligible child gets high-quality clothing. The Massachusetts Legal Help has announced the clothing allowance for September 2024.

According to the announcement, DTA will pay the allowance for each eligible family’s dependent child in late August or September 2024. The TAFDC clients will receive the payment by 30 August 2024 and the clients participating in the TAFDC after 01 September will receive the allowance later in September.

TAFDC Income limit increases in 2024

Every year, the legislature increases the TAFDC income limit in September to ensure more families receive TAFDC assistance. The DTA has increased the income limit for September 2024 as well, which means more families will be eligible for the clothing allowance.

The TAFDC income limit for eligibility depends on the number of children qualifying for the clothing allowance. So, the hike in the TFADC income limit is equal to the decided payout of the clothing allowance multiplied by the number of children qualifying for a clothing allowance.

For instance, if a family has three children, their income eligibility limit will increase to $1500. The increase in the income limit allows low-income working families whose earnings may be high enough to not receive the TAFDC benefits also become eligible for the September clothing allowance.

Now, the DTA clothing allowance is extended to working families as well who do not receive TAFDC, but still, they can claim the DTA clothing allowance for their dependent children and provide them with high-quality clothing, building their confidence.

How to claim the DTA Clothing Allowance 2024?

The TAFDC recipient’s children automatically qualify for the DTA clothing allowance, hence they are not required to do anything to receive the clothing allowance. The DTA will be automatically disbursed to the TAFDC cash assistance recipients’ guarantee accounts by 30 August 2024.
