The formulae used by CalSTRS and CalPERS vary in how they calculate your ultimate pay.

  • Your ultimate pay is determined by your years of service credit for CalSTRS and consists of the highest average earnable compensation for a 12- or 26-month period.
  • Your ultimate salary is determined by the highest average full-time pay rate for a 12- or 26-month period and is contingent upon your employment contract or CalPERS collective bargaining agreement.
